Dog breeds from Guatemala are a diverse and unique group, representing many indigenous and crossbred varieties. Many of these breeds exhibit short, energetic coats in bright colors, with a long, bushy tail and strong body structure. They have a natural instinct for protection and are highly intelligent, making them excellent guard dogs. Popular breeds include the Chinampero, a small, strong-boned dog developed by Mayan settlers and the Cimarron, a larger hound-type breed often used for hunting. All of these breeds are active and require lots of exercise and mental stimulation to stay healthy and happy.
