American Gointer Activity Requirements

American Gointers are a very intelligent breed of dog that excels in obedience and agility. They are a high-energy and athletic breed, so they need lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Gointers require about an hour of vigorous exercise a day. They will happily run for miles or chase a ball, but they can also excel at canine sports like agility and obedience. While a fenced-in backyard is ideal for this dog, they are not suited for apartment living. They need room to run and jump. If you live in an apartment or if you don’t have a fenced-in area, a Gonter may not be the right dog for you.
