The Bedlington Terrier is a medium-sized, soft-coated, wire-haired terrier with a fox-like appearance. The FCI officially recognized the Bedlington as its own country terrier in 1974. This terrier was originally developed in the Border region of Northumberland, England, and was historically known as a “Border Foxhound”. The FCI officially recognized the Bedlington as its own country terrier in 1974. The origin of the name “Bedlington” is unclear. One theory is that the name “Bedlington” is derived from a village of that name near Morpeth in Northumberland, England. Another explanation is that the name “Bedlington” comes from the name of the river “Bed”, which flows through the same area.
