Black Russian Wolfhound Terrier History
The Black Russian Wolfhound Terrier (B.R.W.T.) is a dog of mixed ancestry, probably resulting from a breeding of a Russian wolfhound and a terrier. Some authorities refer to this hybrid as a “Russian Wolfdog”. The origin of the modern day B.R.W.T. is unknown. It may have been the result of cross-breeding between larger Russian wolfhounds and the smaller English Fox Hound. Other, and less credible, theories suggest that the B.R.W.T. was originally a bi-product of fox-hunting in Russia and that “Black” in the name refers to the color of the coat. The first recorded sighting of a “black” wolfhound was in 1784, and may be the first recorded sighting of a “black” black-and-tan, or “brindle”, or “red”, or “white”, or “blue”, or “merle”, or “leopard”, or “silver”, or “fawn”, or “timber”, or “cream” or “gold”, or “copper”, or “rust”, or “orange”, or “chocolate”, or “golden”, or “peach”, or “tan”, or “beige”, or “gray”, or “cinnamon”, or “water”, or “ma

Black Russian Wolfhound Terrier Temperament and Behaviour
The Black Russian Wolfhound is a highly intelligent and sociable dog. They are extremely active and athletic, and they need a lot of exercise on a daily basis. They are protective of their family, but are also independent and aloof with strangers. They are often aggressive towards other dogs, and should be supervised around smaller animals and children.
Black Russian Wolfhound Terrier Activity Requirements
The Black Russian Wolfhound Terrier, also called a Borzoi, is a tall, elegant, and powerful dog. They were originally bred as sight hounds, but these days they are also used in lure coursing. They are naturally muscular and athletic, requiring regular vigorous activity. Because of their high prey drive, they require a very high fence. If they see a squirrel or rabbit, they will chase it. They are also very independent and stubborn. If you do not train them properly, they can be a handful. If you are looking for a high-energy companion, the Black Russian Wolfhound is not the breed for you. They do require a good deal of exercise and mental stimulation. However, they do not require it every day. They are happy to lounge around after a long walk or vigorous play session.
