The Borgi is a medium-large sized, short-haired, sheepdog-type herding dog originally developed in Italy. The Borgi is descended from the Cane da Pastore (Pastor Dog), a sheepdog type that was imported to Sardinia and Corsica from North Africa. During the mid-1800s, the Cane da Pastore was crossed with the Cotati (a shepherding spitz type) and developed into the modern Borgi, which was named after a town of Sardinia.
