Boston Terrier History
The Boston Terrier is a medium-sized American terrier with a distinctively shaped head. The Boston Terrier is descended from the Bull and Terrier type dogs that were brought to the United States by English settlers. The ancestors of the modern Boston Terrier were crossed with Bulldogs from England and local terrier types to produce the “American Bull and Terrier”. The modern Boston Terrier was formally recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1893.
