Boston Yorkie History
The Boston Terrier and the Yorkshire Terrier were crossed to create the Boston Yorkie. The Boston terrier and the Yorkshire terrier were crossed to create the Boston Yorkie. The Boston Terrier and the Yorkshire Terrier were crossed to create the “Boston” or “New England” style toy, or “toyney”, as it was known. This “new” type of small dog became known as the “Yorkshire” type. The “Yorkshire” type was recognized as a separate class of dogs in 1945 by the American Kennel Club.

The Boston Terrier is a small, short, stocky, and muscular purebred breed of dog. They have an arched, long, and round head; eyes that are oval-shaped and dark in color; wide nostrils; and a heavily wrinkled forehead. The body is compact and well-muscled. They have large, erect ears, which are set high on the head. Their neck is moderately long and slightly arched. Their tail is typically docked. Their gait is brisk and straight. They have either a smooth or rough coat. Colors include white, brindle, and fawn.
