The Cao de Castro Laboreiro is a Portuguese water dog breed of small to medium size, developed by the Portuguese water dog fanciers during the last century. The pedigree of the Cao de Catra is quite ancient, and confirms the presence in Portugal of a considerable number of dogs of this type, which are today to be found only in three sizes, with the possible exception of the hairy variety.
