Cesky Terrier History
The Cesky Terrier is a breed of small terrier originating from the Czech Republic. The Cesky Terrier is recognized both internationally and by the Czech Kennel Club. The Cesky was traditionally bred for hunting and was also used as a ratter. The Cesky originated on the Czech island of Český Krumlov in the 1800s, where it was known as the Krčméřův těžík (Czech Rat-Terrier). The Krčméřův těžík was a popular chivalrous dog amongst Czech hunters, and was also referred to as the Češka Trpika (Češka Dog). In 1878, the Krčméřův těžík was recognized by the Bohemian and Moravian Kennel Club as the Česká Stráň (Czech Squirrel Dog). The Cesky Terrier was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1996. It is also recognized by several other kennel clubs, including the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, the American Kennel Club and the New Zealand Kennel Club.

Cesky Terrier Temperament and Behaviour
The Cesky Terrier is playful, lively, and cheerful. They enjoy making people laugh and are never shy or timid. They are loyal to their owners and protective of their families. However, they can also be suspicious of strangers and will defend their territory when necessary.
Cesky Terrier Activity Requirements
Cesky Terriers are small, compact terriers that were originally bred to hunt small game. Today, they are a popular family pet, known for being independent, intelligent, and affectionate. While they are not a very active breed, they do require regular walks and playtime to help keep them healthy. A daily outing to a dog park or on a long walk will keep your Cesky happy and healthy. If you are looking for a dog that can live in an apartment or small home, a Cesky Terrier may be the right fit. While not as active as some other breeds, they do need time outside every day.
