Corgi Schip History
The Welsh Corgi, known variously as the Welsh Sheepdog, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, is a herding and sporting dog that originated in Wales. The corgi is a diminutive of the Welsh word cor, which means “dwarf”. The corgi is a medium-sized, short-coated, long-legged, hard-backed stocky sheepdog. The head is wedge-shaped with a long, rectangular muzzle, and the ears are erect and triangular in shape. The tail is carried level with the back. The coat is short, glossy, and coarse outer hair, and a soft dense undercoat. The corgi was originally developed to herd and guard flocks of livestock, especially of sheep. The popularity of the breed as a pet in the West began after World War II.
