The Dobie Basset is a scenthound that originated in the 1600s. The ancestors of today’s Dobie were English hounds that were brought to the United States during the colonial era. Dobies are gentle and affectionate, playful and fun-loving. They are one of the most intelligent and loyal of all dogs, and are very trainable. Dobies are sensitive and protective, but they can be stubborn. They are very sensitive, and they require firm training from a young age.
