Dobie Schnauzer History

The Dobie Schnauzer is a medium- to large-sized breed of working schnauzer developed in the mid-19th century from crossing the German Shepherd with the Standard Schnauzer. The Dobie is a scent hound and was used for tracking and trailing. Because it was larger and heavier than a typical schnauzer, it had a harder time keeping up with a hunt, so it was only used as a tracking dog. Today the Dobie is mainly used as a family and companion pet.
