Doxie-Chon Activity Requirements

Dachshunds are small, sturdy, short-legged hunting dogs. They were originally bred to flush out prey in burrows and dens. While they are friendly and playful, they are prone to chasing small animals. Dachshunds do require a moderate amount of exercise. Daily walks and playing in a fenced-in area will help ensure that your Dachshund stays happy, healthy, and well-behaved. A fenced yard is preferable to an apartment or townhouse. They are prone to roaming and jumping fences and can be very destructive if left alone for long periods of time. A fenced yard will also keep them safe from other animals and from being stolen.
