English Bullweiler History

The English Bull Terrier is a breed of small, sturdy, powerful, agile, strong-willed and courageous terrier. The 2014 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest winner was a black-and-tan female named Martha, who was owned by John and Sue Hanlon of Hollister, California. The origins of the English bulldog lie in the now-extinct white bull-baiting dogs of Roman Britain. The fighting skills of these dogs are thought to have been instrumental in creating the Bulldog. The first reference to the English bulldog is found in a book titled “The British Court” by Sir Robert Bruce Cotton. In his book, Cotton mentions a “Bull-Terrier”, presumably one that was used in baiting bulls.

English Bullweiler Temperament and Behaviour

The English Bullweiler is a loyal and brave breed of dog. They are highly protective of their owners and love to be around their families. They are smart and curious, but are also sensitive and cautious, which can cause them to be shy or fearful at times. They are friendly with other dogs and animals, but also protective of their territory.

English Bullweiler Activity Requirements

The English Bullweiler is a medium-sized, muscular dog that is known for its strength and intelligence. They are often described as “gentle giants.” While they don’t need as much physical exercise as some other dogs, they do require regular walks and other forms of mental stimulation. Most Bullweilers will do well in homes with a moderately sized backyard where they can run around. While they are not a high-energy dog, they are not a “couch potato.” They need to be physically and mentally exercised every day. If you are looking for a dog who will be content to lay around, you may not be a good fit for an English Bullweiler.
