English Toy Cocker Spaniel History
The English Toy Spaniel is a petite spaniel-type gundog of medium size. The AKC standard describes its ideal height as 12 to 14 inches and weight from 7 to 10 pounds. It is the smallest of the spaniel group. The ETT was formerly known as the English Toy Spaniel until 2006. It was renamed by the Kennel Club, who felt that the name was misleading, as the dog was not a true toy. The ETT was officially recognized as a separate breed from the English Cocker in January 2011.

English Toy Cocker Spaniels are small, compact, and typically quiet. The English Toy Spaniel can be a good choice for people who are looking for a lapdog that loves people. While an English Toy Spaniel doesn’t need much exercise, they do like to play. A daily walk around the neighborhood is enough to keep them healthy and happy. While most English Toy Spaniels do fine in an apartment, they do enjoy some outdoor time.
