English Toy Papillon History
The English Toy Spaniel, also known as the English Toy Spaniel or Papillon, is a medium-sized, long-haired, purebred dog of the spaniel type. It is the smallest of the toy spaniel breeds. The soft, silky coat of the papillon comes in white, black and tan, or silver, and the tail has a plume or brush. The modern English Toy Spaniel is descended from the now-extinct King Charles Spaniel and from the Utility (or “Game”) Spaniel.

English Toy Papillon Temperament and Behaviour
English Toy Papillons are social, playful, and charming. They are often described as “poor-man’s spaniels,” because they share many of the same qualities as larger spaniel breeds, such as being gentle, adaptable, and friendly. They are smart, small, and easy to train, but can sometimes be high maintenance, especially if they are not given enough exercise.
English Toy Papillon Activity Requirements
The English Toy, or Pocket, Papillon is a small, dainty dog with a long, silky coat. Their long, flowing coat requires quite a bit of grooming, so it is important to be sure you are able to keep up with their care. While not as high-energy as some breeds, Papillons do still require a moderate amount of exercise and socialization. They love attention, so regular walks and one-on-one play time are a great way to keep their spirits up. If you are looking for a small, quiet companion, the English Toy Papillon may be the perfect fit. They do require regular grooming and regular exercise, but their friendly and devoted personality makes them a great addition to any home.
