German Shorthaired Weimaraner History
The German Shorthaired Weimaraner is a medium-sized breed of gundog developed from the similar-looking Standard and Miniature Wirehaired Pointed (or “Weimaraner”) types. The IWPCA (the International Working Group for the Preservation of the Wire-haired Pointing Griffon), was founded in 1983, and since 1991, the FCI (the Fédération Cynologique Internationale) has recognised the IWPCA as the world authority for breeding. The IWPCA owns the copyright on the name “Weimaraner”, and the name “Weimaraner” can only be used with the IWPCA’s permission. German Shorthaired Weimaraner Activity Requirements
German Shorthaired Weimaraners are a medium-sized, athletic dog that was originally bred for hunting. They are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and stamina. German Shorthaired Weimaraners do best with plenty of exercise and room to play. They will need at least one hour of vigorous activity each day. This can include a walk or a run, playing with a ball or frisbee, or participating in an active sport. While it is best to provide your Weimaraner with plenty of physical exercise, they also need to have an outlet for their energy. They need a fenced-in yard where they can run and play with other dogs.
