Golden Irish History
The Golden Irish Terrier is a working terrier that was developed in Ireland. The breeding of the Golden Irish Terrier started around the mid-nineteenth century, although the exact date of the breed’s first registration is unknown. The origin of the name “Irish” is unclear, but it most likely refers to the coat color, which is not found in any modern dogs of Ireland. The popularity of the “Golden” varieties of the breed rose during the 1920s, and this variety is now considered to be the “real” Irish. A dual-purpose (working and show) variety of the Breed, the Show/Field, was recognized by the AKC in 1943.

Golden Irish Temperament and Behaviour
The Golden Irish is an energetic, playful, and easy-going breed of small hunting dog. They are generally very sociable, but they can also be reserved with strangers. They are loyal to their families and very protective and devoted to their owners.
Golden Irish Activity Requirements
The Golden Irish is a crossbreed between a golden retriever and an Irish Setter. They are a medium-sized dog that can grow to be a little larger than the standard retriever. They are a loving, loyal, and energetic pet. If you are looking for a running companion, the Golden Irish is not for you. While they do enjoy some short walks, they are probably better suited for a hike or swim. As with many mixed-breed dogs, it is unclear what size they will eventually grow to. If you are thinking about adding a Golden Irish to your family, do your research in advance. Make sure you know what size they will be as an adult and make sure you have the time and space to accommodate them as they grow.
