Grand Bleu de Gascogne History
The Grand Bleu de Gascogne is a large French breed of hound used for hunting hare and rabbits. The hounds resemble the Grand Griffon Vendéens in build, but have a more refined head, more fox-like muzzle and less coarse hair. The Grand Bleu de Gascogne is a medium-sized hound, standing 48–56 centimetres (19–22 in) at the withers. Its coat is medium length, harsh and glossy, and the colouring is typically blue-grey, sometimes with a brindled effect.

The Grand Bleu de Gascogne is a large, heavyset, medium-haired breed of hunting dog that was originally bred in France. It is very similar to the standard Poodle. It has a long, flat, corded, water repellent, and weather resistant double coat that is blue, gray, or brindle in color with white markings. It has a round, soft, wide head with triangular shaped ears. The eyes of the Grand Bleu are a medium shade of hazel and the nose is dark. Its tail is docked and its legs are feathered.
