Great Golden Dane History
The Great Golden Dane is a massive canine that has a strong resemblance to the famous American Pit Bull Terrier. However, the Great Golden Dane is actually a large pure-bred version of the now extinct Old English Bulldog. The Old English Bulldog was a type of bulldog that first appeared in the 16th century in Europe. The Old English Bulldog was not recognized by the English Kennel Club until 1886. The popularity of the Old English Bulldog began to decline after World War I, and in 1931 the breed was officially recognized as being extinct.

Great Golden Dane Temperament and Behaviour
The Great Golden Dane is an energetic and intelligent breed of dog. They are gentle and devoted to their owners, but can become quite headstrong. They are independent thinkers, so it is important to establish yourself as the dominant leader early on. They need plenty of mental stimulation and exercise.
Great Golden Dane Activity Requirements
Great Danes are large, strong, and muscular. They have a short, easy to care for coat, and are considered one of the best guard dog breeds. A daily walk or jog will help keep your dog healthy. They are pack dogs and do best when they have a daily routine. They may not be the most energetic of breeds, but they do enjoy some outdoor time. The Great Dane is a relatively low-energy, low maintenance, and generally healthy breed of dog. If you are an active person that enjoys the outdoors, the Great Dane could be a good match for you.
