The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is a calm, confident, and dignified dog that makes a great companion and guardian. They are energetic, playful, and fun-loving. They are loyal to their families and are great around children. They are protective of their home and property, but they do not typically make good guard dogs.
Greater Swiss Mountain Dane Activity Requirements
Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs are large, strong, and imposing. They are highly intelligent, agile, and athletic. They were originally used for herding and guarding, but today they are a popular family and show dog. A Swiss Mountain Dog is a very high-energy dog, so they need lots of exercise and attention. While many owners find that a Swissy can be happy living in an apartment, they do need to have ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. If you are looking for a high-energy dog, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog might be the one for you. They are not the right type of dog for someone who is sedentary and unwilling to make time for their dog.
