Havanestie History
The Havanestie is a toy-sized, hairless, fox terrier-like breed of dog that originated in the United States. The Havanestie is an unusual-looking small dog with a wrinkled skin that is pink in color. The “Havaness” name refers to its unusual appearance, and “Terrier” is a reference to the ancestry of the Havanestie, which is thought to be related to both the Smooth Fox Terrier and Miniature Smooth Fox Terrier. The Havanestie is a fairly new cross-breed, which was created in the 1990s by crossing the Smooth Fox Terrier with the Silky Terrier. The hybrid offspring was bred with each other, and the resulting puppies were showed in conformation shows and judged by the standards for those breeds. The Havanesties that were produced were of good quality, and were then selectively-bred for desired traits. The breeding continues today, and the Havanesties are gaining in popularity.
