Himalayan Sheepdog History

The Himalayan Sheepdog is an Asiatic Breed of working sheepdogs. The Tibetan Mastiff is a larger version of the Indian mongrel, or street-dog, which closely resembled the Central Asian Ovcharka. The Tibetan Spaniel is close to the Lhasa Apso, but smaller, and the Papillon is even smaller. The Chugach, Michigan, and Alaskan Eskimo dogs were not pure-bred, but hybrids descended from the Siberian Husky, Samoyed, and Malamute. The Snow Leopard is a smaller version of the Siberian Husky, and the Chow chow, the Tibetan Terrier, the Keeshond, the Pomeranian, and the Pekingese are all less than 15 inches at the withers.
