Hokkaido Temperament and Behaviour
The Hokkaido is an active and agile dog that is very trainable. They are loyal to their owner and will follow commands. They are relatively calm, but can become excited and vocal when they play. They do well living with other cats or dogs and are playful around children.
Hokkaido Activity Requirements
Hokkaidos are small, white Japanese hunting dogs. They were originally developed to hunt on small game and birds, but today they are primarily kept as pets. While they can be suited to a wide variety of lifestyles, they are generally best suited to homes with yards. While less active than some other breeds, Hokkaidos do need regular exercise. A daily walk or jog will keep your Hokkaido happy and healthy. If you do not have the space for a large, fenced-in yard, you may want to consider another breed of dog. While they are adaptable, a yard is a necessity for a Hokkaido.
