The Irish Red and White Setter is a medium to large-sized breed of setter, developed in Ireland. It is closely related to the English Setter. The AKC recognizes four colors: liver (or red), white, blue, and brindle. The Irish Setter was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1888. The FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale) accepted the Irish Setter for championship competition in 1910.

They have a dog-like head, a medium-length, hard, flat, water-resistant double-coat, and feathered legs. They have a thick, well-muscled neck, a moderately long tail, and hazel eyes. The Irish Red and White Setter has a slender, muscular build with well-defined muscles. They have an athletic, balanced, slightly arched back, a straight topline, well muscled loins and thighs, and a strong, deep-chested, slightly sloping, front.
