Jackshund History
The Jack Russell Terrier, or Jack, is a muscular, energetic, and intelligent terrier that originated in the United Kingdom. The Jack Russell is best known for being a hunting and ratting dog, and for being used as a circus performer. The popularity of the Jack Russell surged in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and since then the conformation and temperament of the Jack Russell have been carefully controlled and standardized. The origin of the name “Jack” is debated. One theory is that it was named after Reverend John Russell, a 16th Century English clergyman. Another theory, however, is that the name “Jack” is a corruption of the “Jack-a-Lope”, which was a folk name for the much smaller Fox Terrier.

Jackshund Activity Requirements
Jack Chi’s are a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund. They are small, lively, and loyal and make a great companion dog. These fun little dogs have a playful temperament and are fairly low-energy. They will do okay in an apartment, as long as they get their daily walks. These tiny dogs are well-suited for homes with older or retired owners. They don’t need a lot of exercise and can adapt well to apartment living. If you are looking for a new pet, a Jack Chi might be the perfect choice for you.
