The July Hound is a breed of hound that is new to the United States but has existed in Europe for many years. The July Hound is a medium-sized, short-legged, smooth-coated hunter. The July Hound is a European scenthound that traces its roots back to Spain. The July Hound is named for the month of July, the month when the hounds were traditionally hunted in Spain. The July hounds were introduced into the United States in the 1970s.

The July Hound is a small, medium sized hound breed that generally measures between 12 and 15 inches at the shoulders and weights between 15 and 30 pounds. They have long, lean bodies with broad chests. They have a bushy, short, double layered coat. The July Hound has a straight, wedge-shaped head. Their wide set, oval eyes come in a variety of colors and their nose is a dark, solid black. Their ears are large and deep. The July Hound has a smushed muzzle and their lips are tight. They have fairly short legs and a long tail.

The July Hound is a calm, gentle and devoted breed. They are generally quiet and calm indoors and like to be close to their owners. They are very good around children, and are usually very sociable with other dogs. They can sometimes be shy or stubborn, however, and may be better suited for experienced dog owners.

July Hounds are intelligent, independent, and energetic. They need lots of exercise and room to run. They do not do well in apartment settings. July Hounds were bred to be hunting dogs, and they require approximately 2 hours of vigorous activity per day. This can include jogging, hiking, or running.
