Mal-Shi History

The Mal-Shi or Malti-Poo is a crossbreed between the Maltese and the Shih-Tzu. The first generation of the Malti-Poo is often referred to as a “Mal-Shitzu”, but is usually referred to as an “Affen-Mal-Shi” or “Affan Mal-Shi” when referring to a second-generation Malti Poo. The “Affan” refers to the “Affe” (Affine) gene, which is found on the X chromosome. The Mal-shi or Malti-Poo is a fairly new hybrid, or designer, dog that was created in the 1990s. The “Affan” refers to the “Affe” (Affine) gene, which is found on the X chromosome. The backcrossed or first generation of the hybrid is frequently called a “Maltich,” but that term is discouraged because it incorrectly implies the hybrid is a purebred or that the parents are pure-bred. Mal-Shi Activity Requirements

The Mal-Shi is a cross between the Maltese and the Shih Tzu. This medium-sized, fluffy dog is known for its sweet disposition and adorable face. While they are not one of the more active breeds, they do enjoy some exercise and playtime. A daily walk or short play session is the perfect way to give your Mal-Shi the exercise and attention they need. They are not high-energy, but they still need to have some time to get out and stretch their legs. If you are looking for a lapdog that doesn’t need a lot of exercise, the Mal-Shi might be the one for you. While they are good with older children, they can be skittish around toddlers and younger children.
