Markiesje History

The Markiesje, also known as a Miniature Pinscher / Jack Russell Terrier (IP), is a mixed-breed dog generated by crossing the Miniature Pinscher and the Jack Russell Terrier. The Markiesjes of today are the result of centuries of selective breeding, resulting in the differences between the three. The origin of the Mini-Markies is disputed. The “Markies” name is not connected to the “Miniature” prefix, and is instead a spinoff of the Belgian word “Markizijn”, which means “puppy”.
