The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is a Dutch breed of working farm dog. The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje is a herding and draft animal that was originally used as a drover on farms. The “Kooiker” portion of the name is believed to be derived from the Middle Dutch “kouker”, which means “herding” or “working”. The “Hond”, or “Dog”, part of the “Kooikerhondje” is thought to have originated from the Dutch word “hund”, or “dog”.

They weigh between 35 and 55 kilograms (77 and 121 lb) and stand 52 to 59 centimetres (20 to 23 in) at the withers. The breed has a distinctive white blaze on the face and a white stripe through the eye, a long tail, and well-feathered feet.
