Parson Russell Terrier History
The Parson Russell Terrier, also known as the English White Terrier, is one of several varieties of terriers that are native to the British Isles. The Parson Russell is named for Reverend John Russell, who was the vicar of Stow-on-the-Wold in Gloucestershire, England, in the 18th century. The Parson Russell was imported into the United States by the late 19th century. The AKC recognizes two varieties: the smooth (or English) variety, with a wrinkled coat and short hair, and the rough (or West Country), whose color can be white, black and tan, or grizzle.

They are well-suited to families with kids, as they are gentle, loving, and loyal. If you are looking for a small dog that enjoys an active lifestyle, the Parson Russell Terrier may be the perfect match for you.
