Pomsky History
The Pomsky is a toy-sized purebred husky and Pomeranian hybrid. The interbreeding of Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians is a fairly new practice. It first began in 1999 when breeders at Associated Pets and Plants, Inc. of California began breeding the two breeds together. The first generation of the offspring, or F1, was quite small, which led breeders to believe that the huskies and pomeranians were compatible. In 2002, the F2 generation was crossed with Alaskan Malamutes and German Shepherd Dogs, which resulted in a larger, sturdier, and healthier version of the Pomsky. The Pomsky is a medium-sized and muscular medium-sized hybrid that is well proportioned. Its build is like that of a typical huskie, with a broad head, a thick mane and tail, and thick legs. Its coat has a texture and density that is somewhere in the middle of the soft and fluffy texture of a pomeranian and the coarse, dense fur of a huskie.
Pomsky Physical Characteristics
The Pomeranian Husky mix is a medium, large, or giant-sized hybrid breed that is typically 22 to 36 inches in height at the withers and 20 to 50 pounds in weight. They have a bulky build with athletic, muscular legs. Their coat is short, coarse, and thick, with longer hair on the neck, ears, tail, and feet. The Pomskie has a double coat of fur, one being soft and silky and the other harsh and wiry. Their coloring is speckled or sable, white or cream, with colored markings on the ears and muzzle. Their head is wedge-shaped with alert and intelligent eyes.

Pomsky Temperament and Behaviour
The Pomeranian husky mix, also called the Pomsky, is an energetic and affectionate crossbreed. They are very smart and eager to learn, which makes this crossbreed ideal for many types of dog training, such as obedience and agility. They are friendly and love to be petted and rubbed. They can also be playful and mischievous at times.
Pomsky Activity Requirements
The Pomeranian Husky is a relatively new hybrid dog that is becoming increasingly popular. However, there are some misconceptions about Pomskies. They are small, but they still require a significant amount of exercise and stimulation. While a rambunctious puppy may need more exercise than the average adult, any dog that is a mix between a Husky and a Pomeranian will need regular walks. They also love to play and spend time outside. The Pomsky may not be the best choice for every home. If you live in an apartment, or if you don’t have a lot of time or energy to spend walking your dog, this may not be the breed for you.
