Portuguese Water Dog Activity Requirements
Portuguese Water Dogs are medium-sized, athletic dogs that were originally bred as fishing dogs. They have webbed feet, which make them excellent swimmers, and they are also known for their intelligence. While they are not a particularly high-energy dog, they need regular exercise. A daily walk or a game of fetch should keep them happy. They can do very well in apartments, as long as they get regular walks. Due to their thick, wavy coat, Portuguese Water Dogs do not do well in hot weather. Be sure to keep your dog cool in warm weather, and provide plenty of opportunities for exercise and cooling off.
