Sceagle History
The Sceagle is a breed of medium size, old water spaniel, which has been a sporting gundog. The Sceagle originated in the English Lake District region of North-Western England. Until the mid-19th century the scrake was rarely mentioned in any written source, and its existence was disputed by judges at shows. However, following the lead of The Kennel Club, the FCI has recognised the scrake as a distinct variety since the early 1970’s.
Sceagle Physical Characteristics
The Sceagle is a medium-sized, long-haired breed of domestic duck. They stand 14-18 inches at the withers and weigh 3-6 lbs on average. The males are generally larger and heavier than the females. The breed has a feathered body and sunken, broad head. They have small, round, dark, unblinking eyes. The ears are erect, triangular, and slightly notched. The legs are short and stout with webbed feet. The tail is carried at about a 45 degree angle. They are alert, curious, and friendly.
