Silkland Terrier History
The Silkland Terrier is a breed of terrier, developed in China in the 1920s. It is a mixed-breed, with roots that trace back to the English Foxhound, Tibetan Terrier, Chinese Crested, and Chihuahua. The Silkland is believed to have descended from a terrier that was brought to Tibet. Chinese foxhunters were known to bring little dogs with them on hunts, and these little dogs were crossed with the local terriers and Lhasa Apso. The result was a hardy, intelligent, and agile hound that could hunt small prey. The Silkland was recognized by the English Kennel Club in 2010.
