Silkyhuahua History
The Silky (also known as the Peruvian Hairless) is a recent hybrid, or designer, breed of domesticated cat. The Silky is a cross between the hairless Chinese Crested and the Birman. The Silky was created in 2000, when two breeders decided to use the gene for hairlessness found in the Asian Leopard cat to selectively remove fur from the coat of the Birman. The Silky was accepted into the American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA) in 2007 and into the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) in 2009.
