The Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer is a pointing and flushing gundog developed in central Europe. The Slovak Wirehaired Pointer is of medium size and is exceptionally graceful in motion. Its coat is wiry, close, soft and very dense. The lower jaw is well developed and is longer than the upper jaw. The coat is wirey, short, straight, dense, and may be slightly wavy. The Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer is a medium-sized, elegant, free-movement pointer. It is alert, intelligent and affectionate, with a lively, willing temperament. They are excellent hunters and trackers, with a keen nose. They possess natural pointing instincts and are remarkably versatile. They are good with other dogs and pets if properly socialized.

The Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer is a medium, large-sized breed that typically stands between 22 and 25 inches long at the withers and weighs between 65 and 80 pounds. They do not have a thick undercoat. They have a slender, athletic body and a straight, hard, fine, wire-like outer coat. They should have a white undercoat with dark trim. The eyebrows, throat, and underside of the tail are dark. They have a rectangular head with a wide, deep muzzle. They have a dark, almond-shaped eye that is set low and wide apart. The ears are pointed, erect, and triangular in shape. They have a high-set, long, muscular neck. Their legs should be straight and well-proportioned. The long tail is carried in a sickle shape when the dog is relaxed.
