Slovensky Kopov History
The Slovensky kopov is a medium-sized working herding dog from Slovenia, where it is also known by its local name, Tuzin. It is used as a farm and flock guardian, and also as a working sheepdog. The word skopov means “shepherd” in the Slovene language. The origin of the skopov is uncertain; it may have been developed from a mixture of several local dogs. The skopov is one of seven recognised varieties of the Kočevje region, and it is also recognised by the Kennel Club of Great Britain, the ACKC, the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, and the Dansk Klubhund Forening.

Slovensky Kopov Activity Requirements
Slovensky Kopov are large, strong, and athletic dogs. They were originally bred as guard dogs and for hunting. They have a strong prey drive and are fearless. While their athleticism makes them great candidates for many activities in dog sports, they are not suited to apartment life. They are best suited to homes with a secure, fenced in yard where they can play and run. While they do require regular, vigorous activity, they are not as high energy as some other breeds. They can easily be satisfied with a couple short walks a day.
