Soft Coated Woxer History
The Woxer is a medium-sized herding and flocking dog that originated in Germany. The name “Woxer” is an acronym for “Wolfshonde”, which means “wolf shepherd”. The Woxer was historically used for both cattle and sheep herding, and is still used as a working farm dog today. Although they are also known as “Shepherd Dogs”, the Woxers are actually descendants of Polish Owczarek Nizinny, or “Nymph Hunting”, dogs, which were developed in Poland to drive wolves away from villages.

Soft Coated Woxer Activity Requirements
Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are small terriers who were originally bred as farm dogs and hunting companions. They are highly intelligent and energetic, and they love to play. Despite their small size, Soft Coated Wheatens require a fair amount of exercise and mental stimulation. They are well suited to a home with an active family or a family that likes to spend a lot of time outside. They are often described as “velcro” dogs, because they have a tendency to stick to their owners and get underfoot. If you are thinking about adopting a Soft Coated Wheaten, be sure to consider their activity requirements. They need a good amount of exercise and interaction to be happy, and they are not suited to being left alone for long periods of time.
