Tamaskan History

The Tamaskan is a medium-sized working sighthound, developed in the Soviet Union for hunting hare and foxes. Because of its striking appearance, it is also a popular show and pet. The Tamaskan is a medium-sized, slender, muscular, well-proportioned dog. The head is angular, with a broad skull. The muzzle is moderately short and square. The lips are black. The ears are rounded at the tips and are set low. The eyes are almond-shaped, dark in color and relatively small. The tail is thick at the base and tapers to a fine point. The coat is short, dense, smooth and glossy, of medium length, with a slightly wavy or curly undercoat. The Tamaskan is very versatile. It is happy as a housedog, but requires lots of exercise, either in the form of daily walks or vigorous play sessions. It is an excellent hunter, but is also suitable for tracking, obedience and agility. The Tamaskan is very friendly, sociable and obedient. It is lively, alert and intelligent. The Tamaskan is, however, not a naturally aggressive breed.
