Treeing Walker Coonhound History

The Treeing Walker Coonhound is a scent hound that is known for its ability to track and tree raccoons, opossums and other small animals. The Treeing Walker Coonhound is a medium to large-sized breed of hounds that was originally developed in south central Kentucky. The ancestors of the modern Treeing Walker Coonhound date back to the mid-19th century, when American settlers began breeding their bloodhounds with English Foxhounds. The breed was officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 1984.
