West Highland Doxie History
The West Highland White Terrier and the West Highland Black and Tan Terrier are two of the smaller members of the Scottish terrier family. The Westie is a larger member of the group, with males measuring 61–71 cm (24–28 in) at the withers. Females typically weigh between 10 and 14 kg (22 and 31 lb). The origin of the Westie is disputed. While the name “Westie” is popularly believed to have been coined in the 19th century, the first documented usage of the name did not take place until 1977.
