Wire Toy Fox Terrier History
The Wire Fox Terrier, also known as the Black and Tan, or simply as a Wire, is a medium-sized terrier of fox-like appearance, with black and tan coloring, and a wiry, harsh, weather-resistant coat. The characteristic “tomahawk” or “fox-brush” tail, which curls over the back, is docked to 3 or 4 inches (7–10.2 cm). The Wire has been a favorite of hunters and farmers for centuries. It originated in the United Kingdom, where it is considered an ancient and rustic farmyard type, and is believed to have descended from the now extinct White English Terrier.
