Wirelsh Terrier History
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a breed of gundog that originated in the Netherlands. The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1993. The UMBC Retriever Club (founded in 1947) is credited with the development of the modern version of the Wirehaired pointing griffon in the mid-1940’s.
Wirelsh Terrier Physical Characteristics
The Welsh Terrier is a small, short-haired, compact, well-balanced, and lively terrier that typically measures between 11 and 15 inches in height and between 12 and 18 pounds in weight. They have a wedge-shaped head with a blunt muzzle, and their ears are set high on the head. The Welsh Terrier has a complete set of teeth, and their feet are round and compact with arched toes. They have a slightly wavy and harsh double coat that is either red, brindle, or gray with black markings. The males are typically larger than the females. The breed has a keen sense of smell, a good sense of hearing, and are very agile and energetic. They are friendly with strangers and with other dogs, and are intelligent and eager to learn.
