Yorkie-Apso History
The Yorkie-Apso is a small, long-haired, terrier-like hybrid that is a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Shih-Tzu. The Yorkshire Terrier is a toy-sized, purebred, hard-coated, wire-haired, bicolor (black and white) terrier. The Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Kennel Clubs were the first clubs to register the Yorkshire Terrier in 1885. The Shih Tzu is a medium-sized, purebred, long haired, silky coated, wooly coated, or straight coated, spitz-type dog. The Shih Tzu originated in China and was used as a companion and lapdog. The Yorkie-Apso is a fairly new mixed breed, first appearing in 2000. The Yorkie-Apso is a hybrid, or designer, crossbreed that was first created in the mid-1990s. The Yorkie-Apso is a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Shih-Tzu. The hybrid was created by combining two popular and well-established breeds, the Yorkshire Terrier and the Shih-Tzu.
Yorkie-Apso Physical Characteristics
The Yorkshire Terrier is a small, medium-size breed of dog that typically stands between 6 and 9 inches at the withers and weighs between 3 and 7 pounds. They have a compact, sturdy frame with a wedge-shaped head, a foxy face, pricked ears, and erect, triangular, and long pendant tail. The Yorkie-Apso comes in a variety of colors and color combinations. They have a soft, fine, and silky coat of fur. The breed is intelligent, alert, and affectionate.
