Yorkipoo History
The Yorki Poo is a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Toy or Miniature Poodle. The Yorki Poo is a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Toy or Miniature Poodle. The Yorkshire terrier is a tiny, energetic, and courageous little watchdog. The miniature poodle, on the other hand, is a cheerful, playful, and people-oriented lapdog. The two breeds make excellent companions and playmates. The first attempt to create a ‘Yorki-Poo’ hybrid was made in 1995 when an Australian breeder named David Leavitt crossed a poodle with a yorkshire terrier. The resulting litter produced 12 puppies. The puppies were larger than expected, and while the more yorkie-like ones were picked out, the rest were kept by Leavitt. He named these “Poodles” and kept them in a kennel with them until they matured enough to be registered. The breeder went on to name the resulting offspring “Lilliputians”, after Gulliver’s tiny island in Jonathan Swift’s novel, ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. The Lilliputians were then crossed with their gene pool, and Leavitt also began breeding them with yorkies. However, the Lilliputians did not live up to their name, and the name was soon dropped. The breeding program continued, and the pups were registered with AKC as ‘Yorki-Poos’, ‘Poo-Yorkies’, and ‘Poo-Yorkies’. The Yorki Poo Club

Yorkipoo Activity Requirements
The hybrid Yorkipoo is a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and Toy Poodle. The Yorkipoo is a small, lively, and energetic dog. They may look like little lapdogs, but they require regular physical and mental stimulation. The Yorkipoo is well suited for apartment life as long as they get their daily walks. They do not require a lot of time or space to be exercised. Most Yorkipoos can keep up with an active family and will need about an hour of walking time each day. A daily walk is the best way to keep your dog healthy, but if you can get in some additional play time, that would be great. This playful, happy-go-lucky pup will love to romp around with their favorite people.
