American Bully Staffy Bull Terrier History
The American Bully Staffy Bull Terrier is a type of hybrid or designer dog that was created in the United States in the 1990s. The name is somewhat of a misnomer, as the “Bull” part of the name refers to the Bulldog, while the “Staffy” part refers to an Australian cattle drover’s working dog, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. History The ancestors of the American Bully Staffy Bull Terrier were two English bulldogs from the “Poppitbull” line. The line included four generations, with the fifth generation being crossed with a Black and Tan Racoon-Terrier, resulting in a new litter. The sire of this litter was a show-quality Black and Tan, named “Kon Tiki”, and the dam was a purebred English Bulldog. The first-generation offspring were mated with “Kon Tiki” to produce the first generation of “American Bulls”. This first generation was unique in that it crossed more than a bulldog with the stockier, more solid frame of the terrier. Inbreeding continued until the desired characteristics were attained. The ancestry of the “American Bully” can be traced as far back as that of the “Black and Tan”, as it was a breeding done to “improve” an existing terrier. The “Black and Tan” had its heritage in the British Isles, and in the 1800s began to be exported to America, where they found favor with sheep ranchers. (The “black and tan” color pattern in the racoon is native to the British Isles, and is occasionally found in English Bulldogs.)

American Bully Staffy Bull Terrier Temperament and Behaviour
The American Bully Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a highly intelligent, outgoing, and loyal dog breed. They are extremely protective of their families and make great watchdog buddies. American Bullies are very athletic and have a lot of energy, so they need plenty of daily exercise. They also tend to be quite stubborn and headstrong, so early obedience training is a must. Bullies are outgoing and friendly with everyone, including other dogs and pets. They are not aggressive by nature, but their powerful build and determination can make them a force to be reckoned with if they are not properly socialized.
American Bully Staffy Bull Terrier Activity Requirements
American Bully Staffy Bull Terriers are loyal, affectionate, and fun-loving. Their larger size is offset by their sweet disposition. This is one of the most popular bully breeds. While Bully Staffies are not the most energetic of breeds, they still require regular exercise. They are best suited to homes with yards where they can play and run with family members. Because of their large size, they require plenty of room to stretch out. If your family is active and you live somewhere with a yard, an American Bully should be the perfect addition to your home. They are gentle and mellow, which makes them the ideal family dog. While they are not particularly high-energy, they do enjoy playing and going on walks.
