Bologco

Dog Breed Profile

Bologco History

The Bolognese is a lapdog of the Bichon family that originated in Italy. The Bolognese features a smooth, short coat and usually comes in white, black, and tan, as well as parti-colored (black and white, black and white, and white and tan). These dogs are loyal, energetic, intelligent, and affectionate. The origin of the name is unknown, but two theories exist. According to one theory, the dog’s name is derived from the Italian word “bologna”, which means sausage. It is said that a breeder named Bologna created the breed by crossing a Maltese and a Shih Tzu. The other theory is that the name derives from Bologna, Italy.

Bologco Temperament and Behaviour

The Bolognese is a calm, playful, and affectionate pet. They have an independent personality, but are also easy-going and get along well with children and other pets.

Bologco Activity Requirements

The Bolognese is a sweet, loving dog that loves to cuddle. While they are extremely loyal to their owners, they can be stubborn and self-centered. The Bolognese is an energetic, playful dog that is happiest when it’s getting lots of attention. While they don’t need endless amounts of exercise, they do need a few walks a day. If your Bolognese doesn’t get enough exercise and your attention, it can become destructive. When you take your Bolognese for a walk, be sure you are taking them on leash. They are excellent jumpers and can easily get out of a fenced yard. They are also known for their stubborn, independent nature. A leash can help keep your Bolognese safe and prevent it from wandering off. When walking your Bolognese, be sure to get outside for at least 15 to 30 minutes every day. A brisk walk around the neighborhood or dog park will help burn off some of their energy.
