The male weighs from 34 to 43 pounds, and the female from 30 to 42 pounds. The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is one of four kinds of corgis: the Pembroke, the Land of 1000 Hills, the Scotch, and the Toy. The Cardigan shares its name with the Welsh county of Ceredigion. The existence of a “Welsh Corgi” is attested to in a 1531 document from the Waterford Writings of Giraldus Cambrensis.
