The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small, medium small-sized breed of domestic dog of the spaniel type. It is a toy breed, though it is larger than many breeds of toy dogs. The Cavalier is compact, sturdy, well-proportioned, and gracefully made. It has a long, tapering head with a distinctive expression. The ears are quite large and pendant. They are set high and are either dropped or semi-pricked. The tail is set low and curled, but never over the back. It has a short, fine, silky, glossy texture. The fur is usually white, with patches of any color, except brindle. The preferred color is Blenheim. The chin, throat, inside of front legs, and inside the hind legs are colored to match the color of the patches. The nose is dark and almost black, and is wide at the base. The eyes are usually dark brown, though lighter shades are acceptable. The teeth meet in a scissors bite. The feet are round and catlike. The skin is very loose. The skull is flat and broad, and is slightly arched. The neck is of moderate length. The shoulders are long and sloping. The forelegs are straight and the elbows are close to the body. The Cavaton is an energetic and intelligent working dog. They are natural herders and will need plenty of exercise. They are protective of their families and are known to bark at strangers. They are loving and loyal to their families and generally get along well with children, but should be supervised when around small children.

Cavatons are small, muscular dogs that were bred for herding. They are outgoing, high-energy, and intelligent. The Cavaton has very high energy levels and loves to run around. They are best suited to a home where they can have a large fenced-in area where they can play. They’ll also need a daily walk, as well as opportunities to play fetch or go for a swim.
